Solenzo, a village in western Burkina Faso, has been the site of a violent massacre,
with videos circulating on social media showing armed men walking among bound and
lifeless bodies. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), the killings, which occurred
on March 10 and 11, were carried out by Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland
(VDP) in retaliation for jihadist attacks. The Burkinabe government acknowledged the
incident but has not condemned the operation.
