The Union of Republican Forces (UFR) held its congress in Conakry on May 30,
re-electing Sidya Touré as party president almost unanimously. From exile in Côte
d'Ivoire, Touré paid tribute to missing activists and urged transitional authorities to
engage in dialogue with the political class. The congress may lead to lifting the
UFR’s suspension, but Touré’s presidential candidacy remains uncertain.
